The tragedy of life is...Remember: It is a simple process to make changes in life.

You are designed with everything it takes.

This concept may be new to some people and this mind/heart/life technology for change has been around for eons usually under the radar of normality. It has evolved and become more directly accessible to each person thanks to some powerful and recent scientific validation. It is one of those things that when someone opens themselves deeply to wanting change, that is when life brings to them ways to make change. That is how I found this stuff while in college.

It is unfortunate that most people do not know that there is technology within us that we can directly access to cause change within ourself, in our life and the world. ALL that is required is accessible from within each person’s being.

Why do so many people accept ‘less than’ in life when nearly anything is solvable, heal-able, doable, overcome-able? Actually anything in life is changeable depends on what is changed. Quite often the best answers are found from a different perspective . I think the answer is mostly that it is not well known in society.

Napoleon Hill is a well-known twentieth century student of the men who built great industries in the first part of the 1900’s. He wrote one the alltime must reads for anyone who wants to improve themselves. This is so much more than money. Think and Grow Rich every time you . He says that 98% of people know what they need to do yet do not do it.

People just need to find the right person who knows how to guide them. What I’m happy about that my life has been led in becoming a Resource for Human Potential is the breadth and depth that I offer; science-based, spiritual, energies, emotional, behavioral. I am fortunate to have had this inner passion of my soul having been in this field as a side to working as an engineer. I first started learning inner empowerment as a freshman at Lamar University; been some years 🙂

Many people are happy where they are in life. That is important to reach that point where we are at ease with our life, good and imperfect. It’s just that when I hear people complain about something in life I often will intuitively hear how to help or something about it. It is my field at this point in life but I do not interject and tell people, usually.

Everyone can always be better, do better and have better in life. For a few minutes we can alter our experiences of life and become adept at doing so. Finding peace is usually the go to place when someone begins. Peace is a place to just be, to rejuvenate, relax, enjoy. Yoda might say: Just BE, no DO.

4 steps to change from within; the permanent type of change. Use deliberate thinking to achieve deliberate results in life.

Identify where you want to do in life. Who do you desire to be? What do desire to have? Consider different areas of life like financial, spiritual, social, physical, career, emotional, mental, relationships.

Ask yourself: What thoughts will I be having when I have this in life?

And what thoughts does someone who already is this person have?

Identify your self-defeating thoughts and beliefs.

Pull the self-defeating thoughts as you pull weeds out of a flowerbed. Adopt the thoughts that match what you desire in life and who you desire to become. Plant them as seeds.

Write them on index cards. Read them frequently. Imagine being this person daily.

Remind yourself that you choose how you feel.

Do your best to gently and continually shift yourself from an off-center state of mind and feeling into a state of being joyful and happy = the state to receive what you have told the Universe you

There is a Power for Good in the Universe greater than you are, and you can use It…and It can use you.

There is a Power for Good in the Universe greater than you are, and you can use It. Let us figure out how we can more effectively cooperate with the Law of Mind in Action.

First: We are all united with an Invisible Force which is creative. We are already One with a Universal Mind which can do anything.

Second: We are centers within this Mind. The sum total of all our thoughts is silently either attracting or repelling Good.

Third: We can change our thinking thus causing the Law of Good to act affirmatively for us instead of negatively.

p 20 – Make the basis of our belief in life: We are surrounded by a Mind Principle which acts creatively on our thinking. Whether we call this Mind Principle Spirit, God, or Law makes no difference. The only thing that matters is whether we accept this Self-Operating Power around us, a Power which actually can and will do whatever ought to be done for us if we believe in It. And do we accept the fact that the sum total of our thinking decides what is going to happen to us?

There is an intelligence to the way we are designed. We have a brain that has multiple modes that, when we use it as such, allows us to live a better and better, creative and powerful life.

We just were never given the Brain Functioning Handbook.

Luckily through mystics, through empirical evidence and now through the wonderful studies in neuroscience we can understand how to more effectively use our brain.

Brain Modes

Briefly, we have at least two brain modes that we access through our mental direction and conscious breath. The Outer Action Mode is for this world of form, using our five physical senses and taking action. This is generally a left brain hemisphere function. The Inner Creative Mode is where you can more easily direct your thoughts, emotions and thus your life. This is generally a right brain hemisphere function.

In a bad economy you have to get noticed to be hired, to be promoted and to get a raise. In big classes you have to find a way to excel above all the other students who want to achieve. To live a life that is true to your purpose and to move past your fears these are the skills required.

Most people on the planet just do things the way everyone else does them. This is what sets the norm. As we know from the definition of insanity – doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results – you will keep getting what you are getting if you keep doing what you are doing. The same applies as to how to move beyond the societal and expected ‘norm’.

 What is your boldness?

I first experienced this power through a minister friend of mine, Rev. Marilyn Miller site, in California did for me. I was new to experiencing the power of Spiritual Mind Treatment and had begun taking classes in the Science of Mind philosophy (previously done through Religious Science churches that are now renamed as Centers for Spiritual Living). I was living in Port Hueneme, California and working for the global Halliburton Energy Services as a Technical Sales Representative.

I had one of those bosses from hell. He was an extreme micro manager. I had just been promoted to run the Ventura Operation in charge of the trucks, clients, crews and engineers. He was never supportive. He told me to learn how to be the manager. I did and when I took actions he disagreed with he would override those. One time I changed asset assignment. He bitched and switched it back.

Since I was learning more self awareness and the spiritual basis for things in life that are not working… I realized that he WAS the  incarnation of my father. Yikes! Now what.

I asked my Rev. Marilyn. Now, I knew these Spiritual Mind Treatments were provided to people every Sunday but that is all I knew. She did one of these treatments specifically for me concerning this problem. Within one week, as Goethe says, providence moved. This global corporation changed its entire structure. The operations, of which I was the manager, was pulled back to the Bakersfield office. I was left as the sole employee for that division of Halliburton (wireline data collection and analysis) and I was the Technical Sales Representative for Southern California. I now reported to the Sales Manager in Bakersfield, not that other manager who gave me the gift of self awareness so that I could change.

Sometimes you just say: Thank you a-hole for the gift you gave me 😉

My sister-in-law gave me a journal six months before I had set the date to go sky-diving for the first time. I was terrified of sky-diving, but committed to jumping as a means of overcoming fear. The title of the journal? Courage Every Day. My sister-in-law had no idea of my sky-diving plans.

The journal is full of courage-related quotes, and I’d like to share my favorites. Alfred Montapert wrote, “Welcome problems and eat them for breakfast.” Thinking we don’t have power to overcome is the victim’s stance. We are powerful beings, God in form, and God has our backs in every moment. There is no difficulty that we cannot rise above when we believe in ourselves and the One Power that is all of creation.

Richard Tate wrote, “Orville Wright didn’t have a pilot’s license.” What greater way to be a hero to yourself than to do something that has not been done before? Orville Wright didn’t know how to fly, but he figured it out. It is quite heroic to persevere through unknowns and uncertainty to do or be something new.

Mahatma Gandhi wrote, “There is a person now slumbering within us, which if awakened would do to evil what light does to darkness.” The slumbering person within us is awakened by consistent spiritual practice, elevating our own and all human consciousness above evil—it simply fades away into nothingness. Our most heroic acts are those that enable us to truly know ourselves in all our guts and glory.

Finally: Science is Thawing the Resistance to Mainstream Meditation

I understand that most people need science to justify new things that have been serving humanity for thousands of years. Believe me. I am a degreed electrical engineer who relies on logic for much of life and had to do a lot of training to balance out my thought processes to include more intuitive and creative thoughts. But that logical mind runs amok at times and prevents us from doing things that are good for us, especially practices that have proven to help some communities for hundreds of years.

AND the good news is that the re-burgeoning field of neuroscience, now that they have the equipment to do so, is measuring the immediate and noticeable impact on human’s brains while meditating. I caught part of the story on ABC’s Nightline last night and it was great!

Segment 1: Benefits of meditation

It is estimated that 20 million Americans are regular meditators.

Look at the graphs of brain activity while meditating which shows a marked increase in activity. Soon after someone starts meditating the parts of the brain associated with compassion and awareness grow while the parts associated with stress shrink. Plus researchers found that these new meditators were less mean to each other and began to use ‘we’ instead of ‘I’, a sign of letting go of our controlling egos. Great solution to emotional self management, a skill that is needed by all.

They also mention how meditation has made it into some of mainstream America; in Fortune 500 Corporations, elementary schools, musicians, etc.

Segment 2:  An interview with the Dalai Lama

Even the Dalai Lama says that he loses his temper once in a while. He continues: if someone does not ever lose their temper then he doesn’t believe them. And if that’s true then they must come from some other space (indicating that they are aliens).

YIPPEE! I SO AGREE. We are not designed to be completely positive. This is a misconception about the impact of meditation. This validates my concept in this blog post Gossip & Effective Communication under ‘Positive Facades’. We are not designed to never have difficulty. We are designed to be authentic. Life is designed as a place where we continue to learn how to be greater. And at times there are ‘downs’.

Summary

To my students and coaching clients: please listen to this as motivation to do your daily practice. Remember how it felt in class and make a choice to better your lives for your sake and for your family.

To anyone else: Check this out. Consider it. We have to do something different in life when we want a different outcome.

Trust the science over your internal resistance. Once you begin to do just a few minutes daily in a few weeks you will start noticing a difference to how you view yourself, view life and have more self control and direction. I have taught meditation in Spiritual Centers and through a scientific method that just takes minutes to practice and I still find value and an increasing inner strength plus a stronger sense of self. However you learn it, use it.

Choose thoughts to be in alignment with what you desire in life

Our thoughts are the programming mechanism for how our brain is programmed to relate to all aspects of life and our inner selves.

AND our brain determines how our life is lived.
PLUS it is the organ that allows us to interface between this world of form and the creative world of infinite possibility thereby shaping our own experiences in life.

Thus it seems that the way our brain is programmed is an important part of us that we would do very well to organize it and learn best ways to use this key quality of life organ the way it is designed to be used.

An old song says, “Want a carrot, plant a carrot, not a brussel sprout.” This farming example clearly shows that the seeds you plant in the garden become the plants you get at the harvest. Within the seed is the entire idea of the plant, encoded, ready to sprout, waiting for the warm, dark earth in which to germinate. What an amazing thought. Your part is to choose the seed and nurture the sprouts.

The same principle and law work in the mental garden. What you plant in mind, you will harvest in form. If you have an abundance of brussel sprouts but really prefer carrots, then it’s simple – remove the roots of the sprouts and plant carrots instead. If you have excessive thoughts about financial stress, remove them and replace them with conviction of financial well-being. Then nurture those new thoughts.

We say we know this, understand it, and still the stress seems to have some invisible grip on us. We refuse to stop worrying, complaining, being afraid, or to make better choices. We must learn how to break the patterns that keep us imprisoned in the lies of limitation. Ernest Holmes (info about him) said, “Successful people think about success. A successful man is filled with that subtle something, which permeates everything that he does with an atmosphere of confidence and strength.” Faith doesn’t happen by accident; we develop it by coming to believe, one thought at a time.

Well, the week got away from me. I ended up volunteering to be the evening host for dinner Tuesday through Thursday since there were so many people who have never visited Austin. Sam, the director from Australia said that he had never eaten Mexican food; sacrilege. Tuesday evening we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant – Din Ho Chinese BBQ. Wednesday we went for “healthy” Mexican food at Vivo and Thursday to Hula Hut.

At this point in class I have chosen more than 20 holistic health goals. I have written out a description of this. We continued the class by focusing our awareness on healing and increasing the wholeness of our different bodies. We all have four main bodies that comprise the wholeness of our life experience and expression. These are the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies.

An interesting point that Laura made was that we can all see the development of our physical bodies and can measure, in general, the development of our mental body. However, when it comes to a lot of peoples’ development of their emotional and spiritual bodies they/we are lacking. Maybe this is because we cannot see the effects like we see our physical body. We do not see the development of our emotions. They are ‘seen’ through our reactions and responses in relationships. And since people are not schooled that they are supposed to keep shaping and improving their emotional body many people do not address this. School does not address this. Families are supposed to. But how many people come from a family of emotional intelligence? <Excuse me. Let me pick myself off the floor from falling over laughing.> And, quite often, we leave our spiritual development up to some authority in a religion that does not give us personal empowerment in this arena. We are supposed to leave this up to someone else’s interpretation.

Like I tell people about the Silva Method classes: Learn to direct your own mind because there is always someone else who is very ready to direct your mind for you… for their agenda. Don’t let them.

I acknowledge a man named Frank Natale, The Natale Institute, for first teaching me that I had an emotional range that went beyond anger or “I am fine”. That is the range that my family of origin taught me. It does not get you very far in life. Through my intense trust of Frank I went through a deeply moving, sometimes very difficult process of learning that there are many nuances of emotions. I trained with him and another of his teachers for years AND I apprenticed with them for some of that time to do what he did. I understand the beauty of our emotions and how they guide us as a feedback system telling us where we are in life. Even more importantly, we can/do generate our emotions to be in alignment with our chosen goals in life. This is called creation. An ever-increasing adeptness at generating emotions that correspond to already having your goals directly corresponds to your skill at manifesting.

I found it interesting that Wednesday morning I had some release of emotions that was very subtle. It happened without cue, randomly. I recognized that it was just old unnecessary energies being released from me. The class was working – the healing process.

In the class we learned some healing techniques, center of the galaxy, soul mold and others. In fact, I had immediate feedback for the class from a lady who had had an accident who repeated a portion of the Silva Life System class in San Antonio a few weeks ago. We did one of these techniques Tuesday late morning. She knew I was in the class and I had told her I would do what I can while there. She emailed me that night saying that at that same time she all of the sudden had a burst of energy and clarity to work with the rest of the day. Makes you go… hmmm

I am very pleased with this new Silva Mind Body Healing class. It is a very beneficial class. Some of us teachers will be suggesting changes and ideas so that Laura can complete it and get it to work in a two-day format. Then we will be trained to teach it. I’ll keep you posted.

New Mind Body Healing class

I am attending the Silva International Conference this week in Austin.

The new Silva Mind Body Healing class is today (Monday through Wednesday). Then “The Lost Sense” class is Thursday. Then the weekend conference is Friday afternoon through Sunday.

I have to admit that today surprised me with the amount of self-realizations that occurred during the three different mind-directing cycles.

We began the day by writing down at least 20 Holistic Health goals and writing out a description of who we are as a vibrant and healthy person. Then we did what is necessary for any effective functioning of the mind: Relaxing Mind and Body.  Laura Silva, the president of Silva International, is teaching this to the public for the first time. In that relaxation exercise we created a vibrant vision of each part of our body shining with healing light. With typical specific style, which make the Silva Method so effective as a manifesting and healing system, we focused on specific body systems and areas.

I felt subtle shifts in my body throughout the rest of the day after this one.

We then looked at good stress and bad stress and the 5 core emotions that stress triggers in people: hopelessness, helplessness, abandonment, rejection, things are out of control. From there we identified the specific events and triggers in our lives that we react with anger and fear. After this we did a mind cycle and re-programmed our minds to respond in the same situations. Of course, we use directed and focused imagination at the proper brain frequency to reprogram our responses to triggers.

The last exercise we did was in a mind cycle where we identified a belief that is hampering any progress, identified the origin of the beliefs and reprogrammed that belief.

The Silva Method continues to wow! me

I know people who get my e-mails hear me touting the benefits and promoting these classes. What may not come across in this two-dimensional typewritten medium is the impact that my heart feels from my student’s successes. There is nothing in this life as rewarding as witnessing student’s burgeoning personal power and watching them make their lives better and better.

This happened Monday. I want to acknowledge someone in college who was a B and C student with a couple of F’s who just found out that he was just named on the Dean’s List at his University. He took the Silva Method original BLS class where he learned the student skills that are now in the Silva Life System class. The very next term he went from C’s and B’s to B’s and an A. Now he is on the Dean’s List. He also tells me that he has found a joy in doing very well that was not there before. Major Congratulations Andrew, in Austin.!

The specific student skills of the many different life skills learned in the class include:

  • A unique 3-Pass Test-Taking method that allows the student to recall information that was at first forgotten while taking the test, even when you don’t have a clue

If you have read the best-selling Silva Mind Control book written by Jose Silva (I have copies), the founder and researcher of the Silva Method, you will know that this is the very origin of what is now known as the Silva Method. A couple of his children came home one day with some very bad grades. He asked them what was wrong. They said that they had studied and knew the information but got nervous while taking the test. From his research he knew that when you are in fear you do not have access to the part of the brain that has the information you have studied and already know. Thus he created a technique to train his children to de-stress and relax their mind and body… on cue while taking a test. This, plus he taught them how to ‘index’ learned material in the brain in a way to make it easier to recall and have superior comprehension. With these skills Jose’s children’s grades improved so well that the neighborhood parents had him train their children, whose grades promptly improved also.

When I was doing yard work I picked up a slab of old concrete which shattered in my hands, a piece of the concrete sliced my hand in the fatty part of the thumb below the knuckle. The cut was only about an inch across but it must have been deep because it splattered blood as it sliced me and blood was just pouring out. The first thing I thought was I was definitely going to need stitches. I went inside and ran the cut under water, cleaned it, and wrapped it in a paper towel and raised my arm up to try to stop the bleeding but the blood just kept pouring. I wanted to stop the bleeding so I calmed my mind and gave complete focus to the injury and told it to stop bleeding. Within 20 seconds the bleeding completely stopped and it wasn’t even wrapped in the paper towel.

After I got the bleeding stopped I sat down, went to level and visualized my injury healing. I pictured the open cut sealing up like a zip lock bag and then my hand being completely normal.  After meditating, I put a band aid on the cut and tried not to move or use that part of my hand for a few days. After 3 days I was able to use my thumb and hand again, not fearing opening back up the cut, and couple of days after that my hand showed almost no signs of being cut!

A husband notices a more relaxed wife

At the Silva Graduate meeting this past Sunday someone told me that her husband told her that she is a more relaxed person in life. She then told me that she is not worrying about things like she did before and she is feeling more relaxed and trusting that things will turn out. I tell every class to get this CD and listen to it at least once a week for a year. She chooses to listen to it every night and her husband is seeing the change in her way of managing life. Briefly I say to do this because every difficulty, problem or concern in life is at its base a tangle of stress that is in the thought process and/or is in the body. When it is in the body it is more likely to lead to disease since it is a dis-ease within your form. In the class I cover the science behind this extremely effective exercise.

This exercise is 35 minutes in length. A medical doctor who took the class last year told me that he put it on his iPod and listens to it when and where he finds the time. Background about teaching in Austin and, now, San Antonio

Ever since I have been actively teaching in Austin I have received dozens of phone calls/emails from people in San Antonio and the surrounding areas asking me to come down to teach. I told each person that I need a point person in San Antonio to organize everything. Someone came up in January and took the Silva UltraMind ESP class and she has agreed to do this plus she has the space for a class in her and her husband’s church in the north part of town.

Sylvia Hodges was teaching in San Antonio and now has stopped. She has graciously agreed that I can teach there. Silva International has approved this change. Thank you.

My commitment

I am committing to you, the graduates, to teach in San Antonio, do previews and come down at least once after the first class to conduct a graduate meeting and work with one or more of you to run these meetings regularly. I can be there more often as long as I can ask your assistance to help me do this in whatever way you can help.

Opportunities for you

Anyone interested in helping please let me know. Some types of help will allow you to waive the seat fee or earn you money. Here is where I can use assistance:

– Putting flyers up in businesses, centers, restaurants, gathering places. I have been told of the Blue Star in the south town arts area and there are places to post there.

– I have also heard of two major Wellness Centers where classes are held. I am certain if these were approached they would let their people know about it. If someone knows the names of these, please let me know.

– Find the different websites and media where free announcements will be made to the public; event websites, newspapers, TV and radio stations. I am told of The Current newspaper and have found their website. I can work with you on public relations and press releases.

– Sales. If you are experienced at sales contact me. I will pay commission for enrolling people, groups and companies in the different classes available.

– When a graduate brings someone new you do not have to pay the $50 seat fee, which helps me to pay for the room expenses. For each additional person you will receive $50, depending on the amount they pay for tuition.

– Host a graduate meeting in your home or other space; I’m sure it would be good to have a few meetings in different parts of town.

– Learn how to lead a graduate meeting.

– Let me know of other spaces to hold classes in.

The more you get involved the more I can offer this for you and your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and city.

Study: Experiences make us happier than possessions

(CNN) — Even in tough economic times, you may find yourself with a bit of cash to spare. You’ve been working hard, and you want to treat yourself. Should you spend it on an experience, such as a baseball game or concert, or a material object?

Psychological research suggests that, in the long run, experiences make people happier than possessions.

That’s in part because the initial joy of acquiring a new object, such as a new car, fades over time as people become accustomed to seeing it every day, experts said. Experiences, on the other hand, continue to provide happiness through memories long after the event occurred.

Ryan Howell, assistant professor of psychology at San Francisco State University, presented his findings this week at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology annual meeting. VideoWatch for more on the study »

The study looked at 154 people enrolled at San Francisco State University, with an average age of about 25. Participants answered questions about a recent purchase — either material or experiential — they personally made in the last three months with the intention of making themselves happy.

While most people were generally happy with the purchase regardless of what it was, those who wrote about experiences tended to show a higher satisfaction at the time and after the experience had passed.

The most striking difference was in how participants said others around them reacted to either the purchased object or experience. Experiences led to more happiness in others than purchases did. A sense of relatedness to others — getting closer to friends and family — may be one of the reasons why experiences generate more happiness.

“When people spend money on life experiences, whether they also take someone with them or buy an extra ticket or whatever, most of our life experiences involve other individuals,” Howell said. Another reason for increased happiness in experiences, the researchers found, was that people felt a greater sense of vitality or “being alive” during the experience and in reflection, Howell said.

“As nice as your new computer is, it’s not going to make you feel alive,” he said.

Most psychologists who study the phenomenon say people adapt to a new purchase in six to eight weeks, up to a maximum of three months, Howell said. That means the initial pleasure we get from a new possession generally fades in a matter of months.

Howell’s study builds on earlier work by Thomas Gilovich, professor and chairman of the psychology department at Cornell University. Gilovich and colleague Leaf Van Boven’s seminal 2003 paper “To do or to have: That is the question” found similar results about possessions bringing less happiness than experiences.

Experts also point out that people are less self-conscious when comparing experiences than they are about possessions. It will probably bother you more that your friend’s home theater is better than yours than if your friend saw more sights on her South Seas vacation, Gilovich said.

Experiences form “powerful and important memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world,” Gilovich said.

It’s not just individuals who should be thinking about investing in experiences when making purchasing choices — policy makers should also keep this reasoning in mind for their communities, he said.

“If you create municipalities with more parks, bike trails, more hiking trails that make experiences easier, then I think you’re going to have a happier population,” he said.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, does this research mean you should give your honey a nice dinner or weekend getaway rather than a material present, such as a necklace or watch?

The issue of happiness conferred to others has been studied less, so the answer is unclear, experts said.

While Howell would expect this principle of experiences over possessions to still apply, Gilovich agreed that it may, but also points out that the act of giving or receiving an object as a gift is an experience in itself.

“Gifts of material possessions often become keepsakes and have sentimental value that increase with time, instead of diminishing like most material goods,” Gilovich said.
