In this physical world, wellness levels are generally measured by how fit people are and how good their life appears. Yet there is much more to a person’s quality of life than meets the eye.
The most important measurements for wellness are found in the quality of the unseen aspects within people. How open to life is someone’s heart? How much of an emotional and spiritual balance does one maintain? What is the quality of underlying thoughts people have about themselves and their lives?
While people generally measure wellness through what can be seen, they miss the true source. With an eye toward a holistic perspective, wellness is an optimal state of being in life, in mind, in heart and in body. The more people experience being in balance within their own selves, to their own expectations, the more they are living in a state of well-being.
It is easy to observe physical growth and compare it to statistics in order to evaluate progress. Parents do this as their kids grow up and go to the doctor when it does not measure up to standards. Teens, as they grow into adulthood, learn to do the same for themselves. Yet how are people to observe, measure and evaluate their unseen inner aspects?
Each person learns to identify his or her unique signs of well-being. It can be seen in the calmness of breath, a gentle heart rate, good feelings within the body, ease with life and thoughts that are more optimistic.
The wonderful truth about the way humans are designed is that they can be self-correcting, initiating change in life starting from within the self. When there is an imbalance, changes can be made. This is empowering to the people who have that fire inside to live a great life.
Take time to consider the quality of wellness in different areas of life. What areas are working and which need help? Consider physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, relationships, play, self-care, financial and business. Ask questions: What needs to change? What feels out of balance within? What is always a struggle? Is there a pattern in life that is uncomfortable? Is there an inner sense that something needs attention? What generates common complaints? Is there a dream that was left behind because of fear? What is unresolved that is blocking the good in life?
Use the inherent inner ability to select thoughts and intent to make change easier instead of difficult. Approach this from a state of curiosity. Consider making changes to be a new project instead of being some horribly difficult task.
Five Steps to Get There
Establish an inner readiness for change. Ask: Is there a willingness to change? Then make a choice to let go of the problem to make room for this new project. If there is resistance to letting go then contemplate what that is. Try writing it out and talking with a friend or a professional with the intent to release it.
Choose what is wanted instead. Ask: What would be better than what currently is? Deliberately select what it is and be specific. For example: have an extra $500 a week, an internal sense of well-being, a healed heart from love pains, increased self-esteem, peaceful thoughts, increased creativity, clarity about what is important in life or be more loving to themselves. Clear choices produce clear outcomes.
Gain dominion over thoughts. Ask: What thoughts support this change? Imagine what thoughts a person may have who already have this outcome; adopt them. Identify current thoughts that do not support this and imagine pulling them like weeds in a garden. Then imagine planting seeds of these new deliberately chosen thoughts to have them grow in mind. Write these thoughts down that resonate with what is desired in life. Read frequently.
Imagine it to create it. Take time daily to relax and imagine what life will be like when this occurs. Be in a peaceful environment. Sit comfortably, close the eyes and do some deep belly breathing to inhale a great life and exhale the tiredness and old energies. Imagine the desired outcomes as if they are already present in life.
Believe and Receive. Develop a belief that supports the outcome. Read uplifting messages, poems or writings to upgrade what they accept in life, choosing better results while rejecting lesser results. This fosters a consciousness that allows the new desired outcomes to be received.
Using this inner-driven change process requires that one only stays focused on the desired outcomes. Do not try and figure out how it will happen. Allow and receive new ideas on the how-to steps, and then do them.
People have found a customized fountain of youth using this process. Their clarity of life is renewed. Energies are awakened. Achievement is established as their norm while their heart centers are reborn to life’s unconditional love and infinite streams of possibilities.

This is my recount of a story I saw on the Oprah show and that Oprah re-covered for the Lifeclass she has been doing on her new cable network, OWN.
There was a little girl in Africa who used to do her brother’s homework for him. Boys were educated and girls were married off while in their preteens. That is how that society values the genders.
The boy’s teacher found out she was doing the homework and begged her father to allow her to come to school. He would not. The girl, Tererai Trent, was married off at age 11. She had three children . At some point a woman from an American Aid organization was in Africa. The girl told her that her dream was to have an education and to live in America. The woman told her to write down her goals. Put them in a tin and bury it so that it becomes a seed for her life and it will grow.
For the next years she was beaten daily by her husband. She ended up moving to America and got her bachelors degree then her Masters degree. Then she got her Doctorate. She married a good man. She had a dream to improve the schools in her country. Oprah donated over $1 million to her and arranged for some experts to help her implement the improvements to the school.
She achieved the four major dreams she had for herself and her life.
Declare who you are. Claim what you will do with this life. Write all of this down. Bury it inside a metal container of some sort. See it as planting a seed. Let it go and allow it to grow. When you plant a carrot seed you get carrots. When you plant your dreams you get your dreams. Know this. Believe this. You only need to believe it with 51% of yourself. Even with doubts it will grow. Opportunities will come. Ideas will be planted in your mind.
Teachers, do this with your class.
Parents, do this with your children.
People, do this with your friends and loved ones.
Families, do this together.
Love and blessings,
God gave me the ability, with the rest up to me… We have to believe, believe, believe.

our thought will take us where we wish to be.

An old song says, “Want a carrot, plant a carrot, not a brussel sprout.” This farming example clearly shows that the seeds you plant in the garden become the plants you get at the harvest. Within the seed is the entire idea of the plant, encoded, ready to sprout, waiting for the warm, dark earth in which to germinate. What an amazing thought. Your part is to choose the seed and nurture the sprouts.
The same principle and law work in the mental garden. What you plant in mind, you will harvest in form. If you have an abundance of brussel sprouts but really prefer carrots, then it’s simple – remove the roots of the sprouts and plant carrots instead. If you have excessive thoughts about financial stress, remove them and replace them with conviction of financial well-being. Then nurture those new thoughts.
We say we know this, understand it, and still the stress seems to have some invisible grip on us. We refuse to stop worrying, complaining, being afraid, or to make better choices. We must learn how to break the patterns that keep us imprisoned in the lies of limitation. Ernest Holmes (info about him) said, “Successful people think about success. A successful man is filled with that subtle something, which permeates everything that he does with an atmosphere of confidence and strength.” Faith doesn’t happen by accident; we develop it by coming to believe, one thought at a time.
Affirmation to use:
This is my choice: My thoughts are focused on my desired experience.

Note: When you commit to changing your thoughts to be in alignment with how you want your life to be then I highly suggest this magazine. It has great articles, monthly columns and daily readings like the one above. One of the columns is by the neuroscientist I mention in class, Mark Robert Waldman, bestselling author of How God Changes Your Brain
You have heard me talk about tuning your mind to the right channel. Read some positive new thought material in the morning to tune your mind to curiosity and contemplating a new thought throughout the day. This helps to keep your mind tuned to a channel for having new experiences in life.

Choose + Clarify + Focus + Receive
This is a simplistic view at how every person creates, modifies and adjusts what they have/do/be in life.
The absolutely fantastic awesome rejuvenating news is that this is under YOUR control.
Everyone is doing this either intentionally or automatically. When we run on autopilot we are doing these steps automatically and they are based on the past… thus we keep having/doing/being the same things in life. That is good for those aspects of life that are always working well.
But what about those aspects of life that are not working so well?
Then it’s time to do something different. What better time than now… the New Year!
The end of each year is a great time to evaluate the current year to see what worked, what didn’t work and how much on the ‘right track’ you feel that life is going. This has become something I enjoy doing for the past many years.
So my New Year Gift to you, to say thank you, is your Personal Guide to Choose Your Life in 2010.

This is a small workbook. Print it out. Get a cuppa tea, a pen and a blanket and have fun imagining.
Led by a goal, following intuition.
This is called effortless manifestation. If I would allow myself to do more goals this way… what fun would that be?
I had a result from the Silva Mind Body Healing class. During that class I set as a goal to find a movement (aka exercise) that I would totally enjoy doing. As many recent students know I am currently in week seven of a self-prescribed minimum of three months detoxing, cleansing and eating strictly vegan.
I set this goal of finding the most perfect movement for my body that I would enjoy doing. Well, fast forward to the Tuesday after the class. I went to the south Austin Time Warner Cable office to exchange cable boxes. I left and was driving up South First street heading to the post office and I saw this sign that caused my car to drive into a corner shopping center.
I swear it. My car turned itself into this center when I saw the sign: ‘Qi Gong’ 😉
I thought, innocently enough: I want to go talk with them about what this is. I have had a curiosity since I first heard about it. But sometimes in my life I let my logical mind analyze to paralyze; then nothing changes. Hmmm. I have gotten a whole lot better with that one.
I had no inkling of doing a thing about it. I just wanted information; feed the logic. I signed up for six months of Tai Chi. Evidently this is the basis for learning Qi Gong. I just had my second lesson this evening. Loving it! Loving it!
As Graham was talking to me about it, showing me some moves and telling me how he had healed a heart problem that he was born with, I was reminded that through my spiritual training I have learned healing through spiritual mind treatment. Through my training with the Silva Method I have learned healing techniques using my mind and hands. Maybe it is time that I learn to move the life force energy even beter through physical movement and learn from a system that has been around for thousands of years.
So I followed my instinct that day and turned in ‘just to inquire’ and ended up being led to my goal: the most perfect way to move my body with purpose as I continue to cleanse, detox and release unnecessary weight. Who knows where this may lead. I’ll just enjoy the journey for now.
Wanna join me? Monday and Wednesday evening 6:45 to 7:30 pm.
It’s bring a friend week: You can come for free Monday, September 7 and Wednesday, Sept 9. Let me know.
Well, the week got away from me. I ended up volunteering to be the evening host for dinner Tuesday through Thursday since there were so many people who have never visited Austin. Sam, the director from Australia said that he had never eaten Mexican food; sacrilege. Tuesday evening we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant – Din Ho Chinese BBQ. Wednesday we went for “healthy” Mexican food at Vivo and Thursday to Hula Hut.
At this point in class I have chosen more than 20 holistic health goals. I have written out a description of this. We continued the class by focusing our awareness on healing and increasing the wholeness of our different bodies. We all have four main bodies that comprise the wholeness of our life experience and expression. These are the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies.
An interesting point that Laura made was that we can all see the development of our physical bodies and can measure, in general, the development of our mental body. However, when it comes to a lot of peoples’ development of their emotional and spiritual bodies they/we are lacking. Maybe this is because we cannot see the effects like we see our physical body. We do not see the development of our emotions. They are ‘seen’ through our reactions and responses in relationships. And since people are not schooled that they are supposed to keep shaping and improving their emotional body many people do not address this. School does not address this. Families are supposed to. But how many people come from a family of emotional intelligence? <Excuse me. Let me pick myself off the floor from falling over laughing.> And, quite often, we leave our spiritual development up to some authority in a religion that does not give us personal empowerment in this arena. We are supposed to leave this up to someone else’s interpretation.
Like I tell people about the Silva Method classes: Learn to direct your own mind because there is always someone else who is very ready to direct your mind for you… for their agenda. Don’t let them.
I acknowledge a man named Frank Natale, The Natale Institute, for first teaching me that I had an emotional range that went beyond anger or “I am fine”. That is the range that my family of origin taught me. It does not get you very far in life. Through my intense trust of Frank I went through a deeply moving, sometimes very difficult process of learning that there are many nuances of emotions. I trained with him and another of his teachers for years AND I apprenticed with them for some of that time to do what he did. I understand the beauty of our emotions and how they guide us as a feedback system telling us where we are in life. Even more importantly, we can/do generate our emotions to be in alignment with our chosen goals in life. This is called creation. An ever-increasing adeptness at generating emotions that correspond to already having your goals directly corresponds to your skill at manifesting.
I found it interesting that Wednesday morning I had some release of emotions that was very subtle. It happened without cue, randomly. I recognized that it was just old unnecessary energies being released from me. The class was working – the healing process.
In the class we learned some healing techniques, center of the galaxy, soul mold and others. In fact, I had immediate feedback for the class from a lady who had had an accident who repeated a portion of the Silva Life System class in San Antonio a few weeks ago. We did one of these techniques Tuesday late morning. She knew I was in the class and I had told her I would do what I can while there. She emailed me that night saying that at that same time she all of the sudden had a burst of energy and clarity to work with the rest of the day. Makes you go… hmmm
I am very pleased with this new Silva Mind Body Healing class. It is a very beneficial class. Some of us teachers will be suggesting changes and ideas so that Laura can complete it and get it to work in a two-day format. Then we will be trained to teach it. I’ll keep you posted.
I am attending the Silva International Conference this week in Austin.
The new Silva Mind Body Healing class is today (Monday through Wednesday). Then “The Lost Sense” class is Thursday. Then the weekend conference is Friday afternoon through Sunday.
I have to admit that today surprised me with the amount of self-realizations that occurred during the three different mind-directing cycles.
We began the day by writing down at least 20 Holistic Health goals and writing out a description of who we are as a vibrant and healthy person. Then we did what is necessary for any effective functioning of the mind: Relaxing Mind and Body. Laura Silva, the president of Silva International, is teaching this to the public for the first time. In that relaxation exercise we created a vibrant vision of each part of our body shining with healing light. With typical specific style, which make the Silva Method so effective as a manifesting and healing system, we focused on specific body systems and areas.
I felt subtle shifts in my body throughout the rest of the day after this one.
We then looked at good stress and bad stress and the 5 core emotions that stress triggers in people: hopelessness, helplessness, abandonment, rejection, things are out of control. From there we identified the specific events and triggers in our lives that we react with anger and fear. After this we did a mind cycle and re-programmed our minds to respond in the same situations. Of course, we use directed and focused imagination at the proper brain frequency to reprogram our responses to triggers.
The last exercise we did was in a mind cycle where we identified a belief that is hampering any progress, identified the origin of the beliefs and reprogrammed that belief.
Wish me luck
I feel like I had a decently successful launch of The Empower Austin Project. I held 3 classes in three different public libraries in town. Both classes on Saturday in south and north Austin were about delivering study and test-taking skills along with energizing goals. Monday’s class at the Austin History Center focused on developing good decision-making skills and energizing goals. What a beautiful building that is.
There’s already been some results. One person said that for the first time her back pain went completely away… until she had a doubtful thought then it came back. She now has a tool to continue finding moments of painlessness. Another person had an ear become unstopped for the first time in days. It stopped back up a few hours later.
When I started planning to do two-hour classes mainly focused on experience I wondered how effective it would be at providing the environment for someone to have a positive and affirming experience of themselves. It seems like there’s some good results. AND it just proves the fact that each of us has an incredible power that lies dormant within just waiting for us to access it. By simply having three direct training experiences within two hours people experienced unleashing their potential. That tells me how easy it is for us to find our power.
I have such humility. I give reverence to Jose Silva, the man with the genius of passion driving him to create a complete educational system that specifically educates people with the tools to actually live life using more of their mind’s potential utilizing both hemispheres. Maybe we are approaching breaking the ten-percent estimation of how much potential humans generally use. Why wouldn’t anyone not want to be somewhat better than they are now; better as in effective, enriched, fulfilled.
Give your Mind clear and precise directions and it says ‘yes, master’. Well, maybe it just does what you command it to do. As an engineer I have done different computer programming along the way. This is how it appears to that happy engineer aspect.
Our Minds are biological and intelligent computers. The Mind always follows our instruction. We deliver our instructions to our Minds using visualization and imagination at a relaxed state of mind. That is The Key to unleashing your potential. The trick is to practice, hone and develop the use of visualization and imagination. That is what the Silva Method does. It becomes more expansive as the classes go along but in the beginning it is all about directing your own Mind. That then directs your life as you desire it to go.
If you are new to this concept then do this. Even if you are not new, do it and see if it works for you…
Find a relaxing place to sit, preferably not lie down.
If you find a sound helps you relax without distracting you then put some on.
Close your eyes.
Take a few deep breaths in, hold it for a second then exhale.
Pay attention to the sensations of the air passing through as you breath.
Start counting down from 50 to 1 and every few numbers think to yourself that you’re going deeper.
Stay alert yet very relaxed simultaneously. This is relaxed focus.
Visualize out in space, in front of your eyes, an outcome you want in life. See yourself in the scene as if it is happening right now. Feel the feelings that go along with having this.
You can do this for a just a few minutes a day and you will begin to notice some changes.
Here’s an example. A friend’s daughter wanted to make more tips at her night job as a waitress on a weeknight. She said that normally she gets about $20 tips on a weeknight and she wanted to make $40. I told her to go find a place to relax and daydream. See herself actually receiving it and to feel it happening now. She did this for just a few minutes before work. She called me after her shift and she got $50. That probably took 3 minutes or so. I know in high school I would have loved to all of the sudden have another $30. That’s motivation, isn’t it?
Please report any outcomes.
