Tune your mind to New Thoughts

Tune your Mind, Change your Life

I just had one of those coincidences in life. I ‘happened’ to turn on the old black and white movie about Madame Currie discovering the first ‘active’ element, radium. Of course, I turned it on at just the right moment to grab my curiosity.

Read through this to see, what is to me, an intriguing example about how one can expand his or her own awareness, thus potential in life.

Madame Currie was showing her confusing results of some energy measurements to her husband, also a scientist. She was measuring the absorption of energy in the elements (some of the discussion leading up to doing psychometry in the Silva Intuitive Mind class) in this pitch blend mixture to explain how it was causing images on photographic plates with its own energy source. She was down to the elements of uranium and thorium with 0.001% of some miscellaneous sediment.

When the entire mixture’s energy is measured it comes to 8. When just the uranium or the thorium is measured the energy measured is just 2 each. They keep looking for errors in her processes because both elements’ individual energy measurements should add up to 8; instead it adds up to 4.

In the confusion of the numbers not adding up to be what she ‘expects’ she  has this moment of realization. She recalls that originally mankind’s science thought there were only four elements that comprise the physical universe: earth, wind, fire and water. That belief had to have changed since at her point in mankind’s timeline, science had evolved with the discovery of 78 elements that make up the physical universe; all of them inactive elements.

She looks at the quantity of .001% of ‘other’ and has a new thought. She has a thought she does not even dare to speak to her husband when he asks her. She finally wonders aloud: what if there exists a new element, an element that is active, that generates its own energy. All other elements known to mankind’s awareness up to that point were all inactive elements.

Up to this point I wonder:

What causes a moment of realization?

How does one tune their mind to receive a new thought?

What is it in life that someone does not see because of his or her preconceived beliefs?

What in life does not add up because of one’s limited expectations?

What might one discover about the animate nature that he or she is?

A little bit more:

During her work to isolate this hypothesized new element she was calling radium, she had to see her doctor for unusual burns on her fingertips. After her doctor visit where he warns her that whatever it is could cause cancer she has the realization that if the element has power enough to destroy her healthy tissue then it could be harnessed to destroy unhealthy tissue. It might could be used to prevent sicknesses and death. Thus she recognized the greater purpose to her life’s work: to discover this new element that could dramatically alter mankind’s vulnerability to death and illness.

All of this is the result of one person’s willingness to
tune her mind to and thus receive new thoughts.

A couple more questions to ponder:

How might your life purpose serve others?

Are you aware, yet, of my your own life purpose?

An interesting tidbit:

On the eve of the resulting work towards isolating radium Lord Kelvin, at the time the world’s most famous scientist, came by their lab. He left saying:

Ring out the old, ring in the new.
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

May everyone open their minds enough to be
curious enough about their own potential
so as to tune their minds to and thus receive
lots of new thoughts!
